Well done mate. Keep up the great finds and posting the pic's.....always inspirational and motivating to see what others find.

Thanks #8 yes I agree, great to see peoples finds and it gives you incentive to get out there after it. My next on the bucket list I guess is a Half Crown.

Evening all, South Canterbury Easter hunt #21
2 X 1964 Florins 1947 Sixpence 1941 Penny "Gordonia" lid off ? key 8 X 44 shell casings etc.

........................................................................................................................
Hunt #22 next day different spot
12 x 5.56 x 45 shell casings, 6 x $2, 4 X $1, 1947 Penny, 1950 Penny, tin snips with an expired use by date, old tractor key etc.

.........................................................................................................................
Hunt #23 back to #21 spot. 7 X 44 shell casings, 2 x .22, 1 x $1, etc etc and a pretty mint (as dug from the ground, just a light rub)
1934 sixpence.

Pretty happy to score my first Half Crown of 1934 vintage, bit of a roughy but I'll take it. Bit of a story with this one, It was getting dark, and bats flying around every where (slight exaggeration) rang my wife for a pick up, saw the car lights coming finished my last dig for the night, thought it looked interesting, didn,t know what the coin was until got inside and gave her a bit of a clean up. If my ride arrived 2 minutes earlier I would still be searching for my first Half Crown. Right whats next on that bucket list???? I would love a Farthing but a tall order I think, there has been some talk of some gold roundness on the forums!...I don't know what that could be?

Any one know anything about something, I mean does the photo showing the markings of one of the 44 casings mean much, just that everytime I go to this area there is heaps and all the same. Thanks Iggy

Nice on the half crown! Mine is also quite rough.

Think that lid is off an old condom tin? Not exactly sure...

Yep, that gold circle is also on my list, good luck!

Hunt #24 new spot I have been doing a bit of research on, finally a chance to check it out......

2 old and pretty sad pocket knives (foreground RH), UK Pennies 1889,1891,1931, 1957 NZ Penny, 1901 UK Half Penny, 1922 UK 3 Pence,
1896 UK 6 Pence, 1933 3 Pence, Some sort of silver button (someone might know a bit about it), Sweet little silver mask or maybe the letter 'B' for Brian (Wady & Co, STG Silv) on reverse, old lid with porcelain centre, whistle, few shell casings, some bullets, some other coins and misc. bits and bobs.

So its looks like I will be going back one day for further investigating, happy hunting Iggy.

Hunt #25 1/4 of a century consists of another Condom lid (pretty sure), 1890 well worn UK Threepence, 1934 Shilling, 1964 Penny,
3 X $2, 4 X $1, various 1, 2, 10, & 20 cent pieces and the usual misc. things.

Got to go, off to the beach with the dog and the F4, (don't like my chances @ the beach but you never know)

Hunt #26 @ the beach as expected zero finds, with the exception of two rusty nails. No targets anywhere, or as least not where I was swinging.
The dog had a great time so all good.

Iggy, I also took my F4 down to various beaches in the Coromandel over the past week, and got very few targets - it may just be the F4 and salty sand. I also found a nail, 50cents and some fishhooks for about 2 hours searching (and nothing else). I wonder if anyone else has had success with the F4 at the beach.

Pleased to hear you are having a tough time as well @ the beach with your F4. There was an interesting article in the latest Fossic mag about beach hunting (thanks Shane). I thought I was on the "slope area" today with no false signals until I got close to the wet sand which is to be expected. I have only been beach hunting probably about 4 or 5 times so still have a lot to learn. There are obviously better machines out there for the beach particularly the wet sand areas, but would also be interested to here of any F4 beach success.
Thanks Iggy.

Yes that article was written by a forum member.
I guess the conditions have to be right to make finds on a beach. If the soft sand is too deep (like over half a meter) then finding anything will be tough no matter what machine one uses.

Hunt #28 new spot, had a real tough time, false signals everywhere, ground balanced again and again, kept backing off sensitivity, checking for power wires, loose coil cable etc, just about had enough.

Back to the car for a drink and a bit of a rethink????. Looked down and it clicked, you idiot I had my steel caps on, anyway I am glad I kept going as found a sweet wee coin.

The usual bits and bobs a 1933 Commonwealth of Aus Penny and what looks like an old Chinese coin Sweet.

FOCWPWL (fell off chair wetting pants with laughter) from hunt #27. Bet the missus has something special stored up for you later down the track!
Same kinda goes for the steel cap story.... but not quite so much, coz I did exactly the same thing about a year back. Ya feel like a right goober when you realise what you've done.
Anyhoo......Nice bunch of finds for the treasure pot. The old chinese coin is cool. Would be interesting to be able to find a date for it.
From what I've read and seen on YouTube, I think that the large ring with the screw thread may be a reigns guide from an old horse and cart setup.
Great stuff fella. Catch you soon.

Thanks #8 yeah I couldn't believe it when I looked down, (I bet there are others out there that have done the same). Might take the coin to the local Fish & Chip shop to see if they know anything about it.
