Unfortunatly i have to cancel my plans to be there...i have a four wheel drive but no money for diesel to get there and traps around all weekend...
So i am going to have to go back to my spot in Matarua and do some slucing and panning for the very small stuff....lol

If I can get somebody to take my sluice box and wee tent etc. up , the cycle up will be good. Hope to be there.

Not sure if you mean take it up there from the camping ground to the claim or take it up there from your place to the camping ground? If the latter, we may be able to help you out. We only have 2wd but its a wagon so can fit a wee bit extra, Knowing the wife, we will have everything but the sink. Hair straighteners etc are so very important on a gold trip. ***rolls eyes***

We will indeed have to take some pics for the others who cant make it.

Thanks for the offer Chris, it would take me 2 good days to cycle there from Oxford (with no tent and stuff!). I'll be 2wdriving it to Marble Hill.

river crossing deep but the river was up so by next weekend it should be ok

for those going up the way labour weekend will meet you at marble hill at the end of the road at about 9;00 sat morning we can sort out transport and gear carrying the road or track is in good condition so shouldn't be to much of a mission of course you will be at your own risk and in for a social trip with mates if asked
away to the sherry and tadmore for the week so will be back fri evening
going on a course of salt pills so as to work up a good thrust
don't for get to soak your pans in oil and wash them on fri with petrol lol

Mother Nature looks like she is going too unleash many of her tears for the weekend to come!!! (according to met service forecasts.) Better pack my bags for whatever she has in store for us! It is going to been a mean weekend over the coast with like minded folk, doing what we do best!!! It will be nice to escape chch for a couple of days, even if it is going to be wet.

Shit really? Damn, if it rains, I doubt I will be coming. No fun tenting in the rain and we wont be able to get in or out of the claim if it rains. :(

don't panic yet guys. last 2 times I went to shamrock the forecast was crap. I almost didn't go both times but I did and the weather was perfect. a few light 5 minute showers was the worse it got. its a good chance to meet and greet even if it isn't the best weather. who knows you might even be able to squeeze in a bevy or 2.

Be aware that Keith also said that if it rains he gets out of there asap as the rivers get up very quickly.
I will be up that way on Friday arvo so will be able to let yall know what the weathers like.

Good stuff. I'll take you up on that offer, thank you. If the weathers not good enough for the claim track then we can leave a little later and have a sleep in. :) No need to leave at 6.30 if you dont have to!
