Not far from my mother in law's place in Murchison and that is only two hours from here so very attainable. Hopefully Reefton will like a bunch of people turning up and spending a bit of money in their town. Lots of interesting places to visit too.

Hmmmm, plans to make, wife to bribe.

Sounds good kiwikeith, i have hired a campervan so im thinking of parking just over the bridge where there a toilet and is doc ground, the old bakery can accomadate single people but thats about all. I hope this doesnt deter members. Slab hut creek sounds a go for sure and if you have a look around or visit isite kiwikeith we may be able to get onto a sweet spot. Im arriving friday early afternoon.

right heres the goss

talked to my claim partner he is happy for forum members to bring their dredges up to the claim labour weekend and metal detectors , pans and sluice boxes. this is a one of opportunity

was up there today and yes there is still some gold left in the river

you will need a 4wd for access there is plenty of grassy flats to pitch a tent on bring your fishing rod, if you prefer you could use the doc camping ground at marble hill.
the claim is up the pell / Alfred river about 3km from springs junction east this would give opportunity to go to reefton as well as its just down the road
refer to west coast stories for photo of top end of claim where you will be able to work

drop me a pm if interested

That's an awesome offer Keith - you legend!

So it's still possible to drive in okay, the precarious bit over the river hasn't slipped in yet? Or has a new path been cut?

track is still open and hasn't slipped in yet
photo of where gold came from yesterday plenty of room for more dredges as well as working that rock ledge that was exposed last flood

we still haven't had a look there yet maybe the bank at the hut it virgin ground

sounds like a couple will turn up so I will take my tent and chainsaw so as we can have a good camp fire to sit around bring your banjo

slightly off topic here but I have a Q. for kiwikeith or anyone that can answer. when your permit runs out do you have to go through the whole process again if you want to renew it or is it just a case of handing over extra money.

I think I may make it in for a visit... be good to put a face to the names....

Prolly leave the dredge at home.... hate for Kiwi keith to get envious on his own claim.... being the generous chap he is.
