My wife and I are very keen but have a couple questions. How long does it take to drive to Greymouth from A:Springs Junction and B:Reefton? We would need to go there each day for health issues.

And as we don't have a 4wd, would anyone be able to give us a lift into Keiths claim from the point at which our car can no longer go?

Wahooo missus says I can have that weekend off so im in. I have a 4wd so culd take a cuple of passangers. will probably camp out on keiths claim if hes happy with that so anyone heading that way who needs a ride just pm me.

Where is every else staying? We are keen to stay in a tent somewhere. I see most places are booked out. Also if someone with a 4wd is planning to go up to Keiths claim, my wife and I would love a ride in. We can meet at the closest 2wd point. Assuming it's a safe place to leave the car overnight if we are staying there.
Is there any sort of itinerary?

chris chch i think we going to meet at kiwikeiths claim for a day or 2 not sure then head over to reefton where there is a couple spots to pan and if people wanting we could go to the muesum or detecting or whateva, ill be panning as much as poss, there is a camping ground at marble hill kiwikeiths is close to it, i will be there the 24th

Is this still planned for labour day weekend? I'd be interested. Only got 2wd and bicycle (1wd) to arrive. Where are people staying? I have a tent and a stove.

yip its still all go give kiwikeith a pm he got the details, sat morn we meet at marble hill and keiths let us pan his claim so i presume thats sat and not sure about sunday marble hill has a camping area has just toilet tho i will be staying there. can metal detect the area or find some GOLD!! then over to reefton i was going to stay just across the bridge there a doc area has toilet too and pan nelson creek and or slab hut creek, depending where others are keen to go

most I think will stay up at the claim in tents although there isa hut or shelter
there is a long drop
im sure there will be room for gear in trucks etc not to sure for people maybe sit on a trailer for the river crossing to keep feet dry your bike will work well as there are no real big hills well not long ones
seems to be a good turn out so far so will be there sat morning

Looks like the 4wd ppl may be needed to run a bus service to and fro! See you all there! Lets hope the weather obliges as it will definitely put a damper on things. Puns intended. :)

Cant wait to get other's opinions on how much flow versus how much drop when setting up a sluice and suchlike. Everyone seems to tell me something different.

P.S. My wife's coming so hopefully there's a few ladies to keep her company. She enjoys the prospecting but has a bad back so has to have time off a lot, understandably.

Yep, I'm going to be there as this is a golden opportunity to pan and sluice some ground other than the well worked over public fossicking areas... plus meet up with like minded people and share some tips and stories. Pity that DOC won't allow dredges but plan for a good time anyway.
