Cheers for sharing :) I see from the other vids you seem to have more luck with the detector finding coins and rings... ever found any gold with that machine?

lol yeah...been detecting for a year now with a chinese detector and only just upgraded to a fisher F2 (so not a huge upgrade but better)...The only gold piece I have found is below and it's gold, silver and emerald?...and it's nice & old just what I like :)

I have been researching an area to try detecting only for nuggets that is off the beaten track, on private unclaimed land (rare these days) and HOPEFULLY holds some gold. Just need some spare time to get there to try out my different coils I purchased with the F2

mate thats fricken awesome!! Love those photos specially the tunnel one. So did they say how much gold was found when they diverted it? The gold I got was kinda equal to your first photo in the pan...but I was just stoked to find that my sluice box did actually work (well it musta du to the fine fine dust LOL)

So..to be able to sluice and power dredge like that, what exactly do I need permit wise? Damn crown minerals site just does my wee brain in!! That kind of sluicing looks like FUN!!

hiya Eagle I'm smack bang in the middle in south canterbury where there is NO GOLD!!! (other than the so called wilburforce myth) so travel is a must for me :)

Oh and I'm notsure on the pendant I guess it's worth something ... It's a nice piece i just wish i could detect my first solid gold ring. Soon...I can feel it :)

MSB:
If you want to find gold with your F2, stick to really shallow areas. I have an F2 And I have found only 1 bit of gold with it. with the 4" coil. It came in as a pulltab (30-40) Area on the TID. You would however be a lot better off with a Gold Bug 2 or similar if you're serious about finding gold. These are a good unit and are a lot cheaper than a PI machine. New Zealand has mostly pretty quiet ground with one or two exceptions, so a goldbug is all you really need, (Although the PI detectors will go deeper)

JW / MADSCONICBOATING:

Schole's Tunnel partially collapsed on the upriver end. i'm guessing about after the 1999 flood. I remember seeing a digger sent up there to clear the debris as it was fully blocked off.

Well, they cleared it then it collapsed further, so what you see today .

i used to get some good flakes in my pan at the downstream outlet of the tunnel. not much happening there now, lots of mud etc.

Simon.

The dude may have a point....whilst I appreciate the pic maybe its better if you PM or private email such said photos rather than main stream them lol...either way keep em coming I love this shit!! I can;t wait till I get out fossicking again!

Today I found a very cool silver ring dated 1890 (thats what makes it cool)

Just a shame it wasn't 18k :)

Happy Hunting everyone :)

Hi Fellars, and of course, Gals.

Simon, If I may kindly quote you.

“Quote":

JW: interesting to see you uploading a photo of you dredging in a public fossicking area. i've seen old guys there on that schist scraping away many a time when the rivers low.

Simon.

“Unquote”
================================================

“Now you see it----Now you don’t“.

I don’t see any pictures of anybody dredging in the Arrow “Public Fossicking Area”

What are you all talking about?

Regards ---Colin. : ) : ) : )

Ok, let's try to keep negativity out of the forums please and play nice together. I for one appreciate all the sharing of stories, photos, etc. that's been going on. Up until now it's all been good vibes so I'm not sure what's gone on here?! Some mis-understanding about intentions I guess. Let's just drop it and move on.
