OK this computer illiterate member has no idea how to navigate the site to delete membership - would some kind soul please tell me how to do it!
I have done my dash on it and have come to the conclusion that I dont particularly wish to add to the threads I had going nor to contribute to any one elses - have made a handful of really decent honest friends but there comes a time in the lives and affairs of men and mice when its time to abandon the ship.
Being a big softie I have no wish to either end up baiting or being baited by others nor to have others making snide remarks to myself or others and the 'real' people who are members of the site dont appear to contribute much nowdays so time to quit.
AND I cant find the bloody quit button - please someone tell me where it is!

Noooooo!!! You are one of the most knowledgable posters here and I for one would really be sad to see you go. I come and go over the months but always like to see what you have to say. Your threads were/are awesome and I think we should do everything we can to keep you here.
The years of experience you have to share cannot be found just anywhere.
Right, I'm off to hide the delete membership button!

That's a shame Graeme - I hope you're jut thinking out loud (you now what I mean).
It's that time of year when people can't be out doing what they love that the site starts to just tick over and posts start to become a bit of dribble. I'm guilty of that myself.... even more so lately. Seems a few are suffering from Cabin Fever and getting a bit snarky, I'm not one to play into it as you know, sometimes I feel I should but let it slide as even when your sticking up for yourself often I think well that's there opinion and I don't have the energy to feed negativity.

If you decide really that you don't want to post then that's up to you but make sure it's for the right reasons and don't let anyone get the best of you - I'll be the first to say thank you for your contributions and your friendship the knowledge that you have passed on is second to none!

~shakes hand~

I'm one of the fortunate ones that the site will make little difference as I'll continue to pop around and say g'day.

Cheers Graeme

Gregg.

Thanks you two but I seem to get myself into a few confrontations which I dont like so time to go - those of you who are friends know how to find me and where to get me and that is all that matters.
I find that when you make innocent comments on here and other make snide comments then it aint no place for me...I just naturally thought that there would be an unsubscribe button and there isnt one.

See what you have done Jafa you dick!!! I for one think that the forum would be better off without Jafa than Graeme.
We all know who likes to stir the pot and who actually has some meaningful contributions here.

as a relative newbie I have had the odd snide remark too but I don't let it get to me. just try to stay off the site for a few days and have a bit of time to rethink your decision. it would be a shame to lose any members and especially someone with your knowledge.( hell that sounds like first class grovelling).

Nah it's not grovelling, it's giving praise where appropriate. Lammerlaw has contributed a heap of really useful info on here and having him here to ask about identifying finds and gold related questions is invaluable to me at least.

Maybe we should use this as a time to think about what we say a bit more carefully and try to stay on topic better.
We all have an opinion and in many cases it's up to us what we want to take away from reading a particular post it's also up to us how we respond or simply ignore what we perceive as being negative. I try hard to put into text my thoughts and don't always succeed, I've also learnt that others have the same problem and sometimes I have misconstrued or misread what others have said and been darn glad I haven't retaliated when the other persons thoughts have become more clear.

There will always be people that will attempt to force their opinions on you or simply try and stir for some bizarre pleasure. BUT after all isn't it why we joined this forum to learn from others experiences, mistakes, ideas and wrongly or rightly their opinions?

This sadly isn't the first time we have lost a valued member and for similar reasons.
No one wants to be belittled for doing or saying what they believe is right.

So thanks to everyone that contributes, the Gurus with their seemingly endless knowledge to the Newbies who question us and sometimes even show us more seasoned members that what we may have been doing for years doesn't necessarily mean we were doing it the best way...

Happy hunting folks!

Just got a few emails alerting me to the forums decent. Been hard at work so not had much time to keep an eye on the forums lately, which is always a shame - only so many hours in the day and all that.

Maybe I need to implement some "Don't be a dick!" type rule - http://blog.discourse.org/2013/03/the-universal-rules-of-civilized-discourse/

I don't delete people from the forums as it also tends to take big meaningful chunks of useful discussion threads along with the deletion. I always suggest just stop using the site - it's as simple as that, that's what I do with other sites I grow tired of. If enough members complain about another member then I'm happy to suspend that users account for a little while to give them time to think before getting involved in discussions again - particularly if they're serial offenders.

Graeme - I too would find it a real shame to see you go due to some inconsiderate words by another. You've contributed so much to these forums and I enjoy reading your posts, seeing some of your amazing treasures and photos you share from your adventures of yester-years. A lot of people have learnt a lot from you - it would be a real shame to see you go!

I could not figure it out either. You could go to 'edit profile' and delete everything, but you would still be listed as a member and could still log in. I think you have sold your soul and are destined to lurk on this site for eternity as 'Lammerlaw.'

I remember this stuff ages ago and i thought we all got over it. I did. I got called a c..t the other week and something else for posting about mining! I merely pointed out that c..ts are useful which they are. Ive been called worse.
We dont use the c word in our house in case anyone was wondering.

There will be alot of dissapointed persons here if you left, think of us, not them. All in all dont let things get to you Lammerlaw, we know your better than that, all water off a ducks back i say. Have a whisky or two, doctors orders. Go shoot a cat that will make you feel better (not your cat).
