Never worry - things can get worse but every time without fail they get better still - you might say manipulated so that those who are in the know will buy soon and then the price will surge ahead and they will sell - and so the trend goes on - but forever upward - it has been like this since the end of the seventies - a bit like the snail climbing out of the well - climbs three feet during the day and slips back two feet when its asleep at night - but the trend is forever upward.

If it gets low enough then buy what you can!

It's a concerted effort by someone to knock the stuffing out of precious metals, probably in favour of stocks.

Probably the USG, because they can sell off their stocks at a loss without having to admit it (no one is allowed to do an gold/silver audit) and they're printing so much money now it doesn't matter if they need to print more to cover the loss.

Check out

http://www.zerohedge.com...our-hour-slamdown-window

then

http://www.zerohedge.com...-regular-morning-mugging

Their little game will keep working until it doesn't and then they will really be in the crapper (complete collapse of the stock market - worse than 1987). Whatever you do, don't panic and sell gold now. It will recover when it becomes the last resort. If you can, buy more gold and silver while it's still low.

If you're a miner, and you sell your gold to pay your expenses, this could hurt for some time yet. If it becomes more expensive to pull gold out of your claim than you can sell it for, go do something else for a while. Once the SHTF you'll be back in business.

i've noticed gold price aligned to the american summer/winter season.

our winter seems to be better for us to sell. at least that's how its been the last couple of years.

i think this latest drop is over the media hamming up the fact that people are now investing heavily into stocks. inc in nz.

with the us pulling out of afghanistan and moving their war machine (syria or more likely north korea) there might be hope for gold yet.

with many tying up the limited known gold resources as 'investments' and not mining anything this should surely have some impact on gold price at some point?

i've read a few articles about robotic mining on the moon/ asteroids etc lately. maybe japan has found gold core asteroid. that would hurt the market.

I never did go Goldmiing because of the Gold price

Why did I go gold mining - for a thousand million reasons - Maybe firstly because it was there! - also because; - it is another commodity, nostalgia, because I love the outdoors, because those I went with were grand people except one of my uncles partners who was a conceited, self righteous, sanctimonious, back stabbing and greedy bastard, because it was in a sense repeating history, taking me to nice places, freedom in the open air, freedom from anxiety and worries about work and mortgages, because it gave me a chance to fit in with and combine my other interests - hunting, fishing (hehehe) tramping and camping, because it gave me memories - full moons and a quiet drink outside the tent at Macetown during a succession of Easters - and other places.

As for the gold price - it had its moments - Many was the occasion when I would look at the Gold price and say "Cripey I just lost ten grand overnight" or "Shit a brick I just made twenty grand in the last 24 hours" - but then again I never did sell it to make that twenty grand - maybe what I still have my kids can fight over, squabble over and - maybe I will cast it into golden shot to shoot ducks.

I used to swap it for old guns and so on though and today thats probably the only way I would get rid of it - so the gold price to me is totally irrelevant...if it goes down to worthless I think that 99% of the members of this site would quit looking for it and take up tiddly winks - but the few like me will still keep looking.

Lets say that a person enjoys gold mining/prospectin and so on and decides to make it their sole occupation alongside fishing hunting and generally mucking about.
It wont be long before a bill comes his way that needs to be paid. Now what should the said person do?
It may occur to them to sell some gold to cover the bills, at this point how much gold they have to part with has a damn lot to do with the gold price and it will therefore be
of great intrest to the seller of the gold. Last summer gold was at 2300 an ounce and now its at less than 1900, 400 dollars less to pay bills with.

I guess you missed the IF at the beginning of my sentence.

That doesn't include those that do it for the lifestyle.

Lammerlaw puts it perfectly from my perspective especially when he says"because it was in a sense repeating history, taking me to nice places, freedom in the open air, freedom from anxiety and worries about work and mortgages" I would also continue if gold was worth nothingand couldnt bring myself to sell what little I have found.
