Dredgey,

for one and only time i say LOL!

just remember, one person's junk is another's treasure!

you probably don't want to see what i located yesterday then.

another bunch of hand made nails. i have dismissed the theory that the old miners burnt their boots to retrieve and reuse the nails in the boots. All lies. They simply liked to burn anything that burned. trousers, boots, whatever. hence the endless firepits filled with boot nails, broken riffle box's nails, trousers domes etc.

well, i did manage to locate an unknown large stone building. trick to locate such items is look for the toughest most overgrown place to get to.

and finally, got 2 nice little nuggets totalling .5 grams.

would post but too lazy is my problem. if it was out of the ordinary i would post but if i'm going out all the time and get this sort of thing each trip (mostly) i don't really see the point.

if i was finding different stuff such as varying coins maybe i would make posts from each outing.

each to their own.

if no one put up stuff this site would be rather quiet wouldn't it?

keep up the hunting.

simon.

I watched one of the vids on the other site, that english guy is a hoot! He was detecting in Germany and kept up a continuous patter of funny stuff. He was detecting in what looked some old military related area in a forest with bunkers and such like around the place. Found a nice old nazi belt buckle too, in very nice condition. Thanks for the link.

hahaha here we go again....i agree coinnut and that gold thing you found is worth more than some of the wee nuggets of REAL stuff coming out of thoses hills...lol....

We enjoy our hobbie and yes we find alot of junk but we also find alot of good stuff to...it may not be gold nuggets but it is what we are out hunting for....
I for one have found 3 identical medallions from the queens visit from 1953 -54... along with a WW1 Victory metal dated 1914-1919.for which i am trying to track down the family...that may be junk to you dredgey but it's not to me..and it may make the family very happy that it has been found..

Once again i would love to get out to look for real gold and will be for two weeks at the end of feb..but this is our hobbie and it is what we enjoy doing. so junk or not we will keep posting...as someone else said if you dont want to see it. DONT LOOK

we dont go looking for Junk as you state. we go looking hoping to find jewelery and old coins/relics......

and as far as i am cocerned you are the only TOOL in this thread

yeah, i have to admit the novelty of it wears off.

all i find is rusted shit and gold. its actually a novelty for me to find ANY coin.

even the small bits of gold start to look the same after a while.

Gingerbreadman you can go jump off a bridge for all i care...we enjoy our hobby and we are not junk festers...why do you feel you have to insult us like that..we dont sit here and call you names ..but then maybe your one of those guys from the Tennessee hills who enjoys
having a sister for a wife who is also your brothers wife.

just because we can,t all go out and find gold doesnt make us junk festers.... i have found plenty of things that have a little value to them such as that sovern case value around 100...and the turkish snuff bottle...value unknown and the WW1 medal which may have sentamental value to the family once found....these things are not junk...

And im almost willing to bet that both robert and oroplata have a silver coin collection that is close to being worth a half ounce of gold...again not junk...

If you dont have anything nice to say about our hobbie or you feel the need to start slinging names at us then just dont bother...we have done nothing wrong to you and have stayed out of your part of the forum unless we have gold to show...so again if you dont like what we have..DONT LOOK.....no need for the insults.

yes we are lucky that he has..but he didnt do it for you to come into our section and insult us by calling us junk festers....as stated we enjoy what we do and most of us would love to get out into the gold fields to find real gold to..but we cant so we do what we can and we enjoy it...

we dont come into the gold part of the forum and start slinging names around so why do you have to.....you dont like what we post in our own part of this forum then stay the hell out...... expat was sharing with us detctorist another site with some good videos///again if it's not your thing then stay away from it...dont go running in there and sling names at people you dont even know.....or maybe that is all your small brain can cope with.

Troll is the word, and unfortunately I fell for it and feed the troll in a posts above. He has implied detectorists are scavengers in a previous thread so he is obviously trolling. Must be the type of person that has to belittle something he is unable to comprehend which reflects on himself rather then the hobby.

i still find it a little interesting at what some of you detector heads find and i do follow some of your posts i supose if i lived in a city where there is no gold i for one would be digging up parks as well, but personally i drive 10min down the road and im in a gold bearing creek not to mention the britannia gold mine

hey, i use a vlf detector! (the old non digital type - GB2). i've found them to be at least as good as the minelabs on the ground i use them on. sure non vlf detectors go deeper but why when you are on bloody bedrock to begin with!

i think the reason there is no gold news here these days as most of us have gotten sick of posting pics and are too busy detecting. ie the rainy day syndrome where everyone is on this may prove this.

and every post just shows off your gold and highlight show much you are finding, thus bringing in the vultures.

if i had a dollar for every person that has tried to tag along (and i'm talking out of towners and foreign gold tourists) i would be on the way to riches.

i've met loads of people and taken them out for a go but now that gold has everyone chasing it i prefer to head out alone. too many big mouths sink ships. and the gold doesn't grow back.

now i prefer to just meet up with the locals guys who there are a few of. or others i have built up some trust in.

whatever goes up here is broadcast to the world and stays up. what i wonder is why this site gets so much moaning and groaning. wouldn't we all be better off out detecting?

i've seen some of the other forums. maybe its because of the larger numbers that the moans aren't as visible, or perhaps the site manager deletes most of it?

we do have a pretty small country i guess. all the more reason to keep most things quiet.

maybe its a good thing the laws are such a mess here and keep out all the foreigners doing small time mining. it's enough of a shit fight as it is. down here i have noticed more and more detector tourist types.... in a van, have a year to fill in, that sort of stuff. once helped one out and got rewarded with a big pile of shit left behind / smashed up glass that sort of thing when the german departed months later after freeloading it on one our our nice river beaches here. makes you wonder. whereas most local types just loves being outdoors, have some manners, and don't leave a big f'ing mess behind.

public holidays are coming so time for more of this. a good time to hide out in your secret spot until they all go back to work i guess.

swing a dectector around at this time of year and chances are you will turn round and see a gander of detectors behind you. got to wonder who knows how to use them though.

hi simon
with the tourist thing just be thankfull that their hasnt been some bad reality show on discovery thats featured nz. ( meteorite men, gold rush, berring sea gold etc) if you have a look at a few of the overseas forums after these have aired a huge influx of miners and idiots flock to the area thinking theyre gunna do beter then on tv lol.
It is suprising the places some of these tourists end up especially in those campers i remember seeing one stuck in the river at the 8th crossing up to macetown they had a little dredge with them dont even know how they made it that far!
