my Garrett GTI2500 was screaming "aluminium can, aluminium can" at me but I thought, what the hell I'll dig it anyway...

8 or 9ct "A Kohn Ltd" marks.

I thought at first it was plated but it appears be solid, and at 30g weight, that's a fair chunk of gold. A shame I stabbed it thinking it was a can!

Found it right next to Lake Albert in Hagley. I hate to think how many of us have been over it already and ignored it.

Yep. That's the one. Approx where the waterslides were for the 19086 exhibition, IIRC.

Nice finds Oroplata.
I found a very similar bangle and managed to ding it too.
My one is 9ct on silver base which I think most of them were. Yours is way up on the weight
though so perhaps it is a fair chunk of yellow.

Nice result Andy. Did the silver ring come up today as well?

My greatest fear is that when I die my wife will sell my collection for what I told her it cost me.

Yep. The ring and 1936 6p came up while we were still hunting in a pack. The .925 pendant and the bracelet were after the others had all piked off.

The 6p is in quite good condition - I might get you to rate it at the next meeting. :)

Nice find. Go the GOLD.
Your right, dig some of them anyways. Specially those ringpull signals. Dug one the other day, amongst others, and it turned out to be a nice heavy ring with stone.
A lot of good targets come up as a ringpull ive found.

Hi guys, using sd2100,this coin,aAOTEAROA 1ounce fine silver was sounding like a ali can but kept changing sound every shovel of sand that was removed, and at 700cms deep, yes thats right,700deep when i finaly saw an edge i thougth it was a piece of alfoil. Just goes to show what we may miss if we dont check out those dodgy signals. Time was 1.35 in the morning, just as well nobody was around to hear me yell??||#######

not to be fussy but 700cm is 7 metres, surely you mean 700mm which is still a massive depth. My detector would struggle with 30cm!
And now....On sandy beaches and muddy soil, rings and coins await my coil!

I had an area that I had already been over last week. Went back over it today and only got 2 coins in 30 mins. Might go back and dig all the pulltabs next time. Bloody time consuming but should prove a point. When I shifted off this area today I got 10 coins in the next 30 mins. Pennies 1920,21,22. 1905 half penny 1933 6d and 4/5ths of my second ever silver shilling! Yes expat im closing in fast! Okay some of it has got the chop from the lawn mower but it still has the date on it so its a technical victory.
