I just made a classifying screen for my sluice box. I know its not ideal and ill probably lose some gold but I should be able to process more dirt to make up for it.
The idea has been around for a long time but I have added a damper made from miners moss. I am hoping the moss will help clean and tumble the rocks as they go through.
What do you think?

Looks good,

I tried something similar with my A52, but used 9.5mm 40% perforated sheet.
Tried it in the arrow river last summer and was good. Problem with the arrow is so much black sand.

How magnetic (if at all) is the black sand? I reckon you could set up some rare earth magnet sand traps if they are magnetic.

The arrow black sand is highly magnetic.
Not to sure if a magnet trap may make the situation worse as it will also trap fine gold and form large clusters of sand. Might be worth a bit of trial and error thou. The fine gold and black sand go together. Biggest tip is get some bushmans mozzie spray, they are relentless barstards.

Good ideas-but wouldn't one shovel full of gravel fill the screen and then need washing and removal? Possibly putting the classifier at an angle would cause the gravel to slide off sideways but then it would be unwashed.

Jimmy Bedrock, Lazy people dont generaly find much gold. It comes down to effort & reward. :)

Saturday afternoons effort on my behalf for 2.5 hours detecting. A lucky horse shoe find helped me find the unlucky number of 13 little nuggys

That's some nice gold and sweet horse shoe.. hopefully I can find my first bit of detecting gold on my next trip.

I made the screen just because I have very limited time down south and want to do as much sluicing as I can...when im not detecting or sniping
If the screens no good I will get the buckets and classifier out.

If you dump your unclassified material at the front of the sluice, the large rocks will build up behind the bar holding your blue material in place.
If you classify your material, you will require a lower water flow to move the material through your sluice hence finer gold will settle out more readily. Also, unless you are fortunate, most of the time you will need to bucket the material to your sluice. If you classify the material into a bucket, you will not have to carry as many rubbish rocks to your sluice. I don't see how your attachment will work successfully, but give it a go, just be prepared to be adaptable.
