When your out n about keep an eye out for these two.

The Crown would be better if it was 1935 for silver content and low minting number.

Alas no I have not dug these up but found them in a box of family stuff.

I have good news for you regarding the crown - it is 50 percent silver just like the earlier 1935 one! All New Zealand coins prior to 1947, that is from 1946 back were fifty percent silver except of course for the half penny and penny which were copper BUT there was an exception and that was the 1949 crown so it has good value for the silver alone. They arent scarce - I think I have around nine of them alone as I kept them for my kids due to their silver content.

Well that is good news Lammerlaw. Thanks.
I think this one was probably kept for exactly the same reason as you mention.
A 1935 would be good but.

In the past I have looked sort of wistfully at the 1935 Crowns but when I do have the sort of money then cased Adams percussion pistols and Tranters and old antique firearms seem to take precedence.
