watch out out there. the storm is coming. some pretty huge wind gusts already coming through followed by heavy rain.

i was just out but decided to chuck it in. dust and branches were flying. a decent size slab of rock bounded on by which was the final straw. i think even a twig hitting you in those winds could cause some damage.

i can now see how wind causes some good erosion around here. the tree roots were basically acting as levers where they has grown into cracks in the rocks. some trees were already down where i was and was planning on being under the next one.

some wind this morning in Dunedin, nothing yet like the forcast, high cloud and quite warm, some large amounts of rain forecast for the head waters, went to Beaumont on sunday and it was freezing with a very strong cold wind, made panning with the garret plastic pan a bit difficult, the river was still nice and low, wonder how long that will last

apart from the wind we seemed to miss the heavy rain that was predicted. got a bit last night but not as much as they were talking about. good for me as a low river is a good river.
