Hi All,

Had a good hunt today and managed a few silvers.
One was this 1851 Gothic Florin which made me grin a bit.
It was also my first English florin too.

More info about this and the rest of the days hunt is on my blog if
you would like to look.

Hey Shane good looking silver.
I have not found any Aussie silver yet. Lucky you.
I don't know what year they stopped the silver content in their coins either.
I think it might be 65 but not sure.

Man they are asking a lot for that coin. It is old but not in perfect condition.
Perhaps it's the rarity.
Must check the rim on my florin.

Thanks for the link oroplata.

I didnt know there was a 1849 gothic style florin. At first, 1849-1851 the florin had plain victorian writing and was called the 'godless coin'. From 1851-1887 the gothic pattern remained the same.

Just checked and yes the 49 is gothic style. http://www.google.co.nz/url?sa=...4MkKv8t5SkTw&cad=rja
