Perhaps it's time to take up mountain biking, might be as good as using a metal detector

although it would half kill us old buggers!

Thats really interesting and goes to prove that there is still stuff out there to discover - a fair few years ago now a chap I know discovered a hut up 'Queestown way' on his Brother-in-laws sheep station. The hut was not only all complete but all the gear was still inside it right down to a rifle. I am sure that the bush on the West Coast must hold an amazing wealth of material for some lucky person to discover but in this day and age of PC crap it is best to keep such discoveries secret - there is NO incentive in NZ for any person to declare what they find.
