well back from the claim and found time before heading of to work up the heaphy track counting possums
the river is good to cross except for some soft sand on north bank (no trouble for a landrover)
yes i left my chain saw at home and yes there was a tree part across the road still got through after driving through the bush thanks to bull bars only had to take my steering arm off when got home to put it in the press
the water was clear and dare i say alittle warm well not so cold anyway
spent about 7 to 8 hours sucking (thats dredging for those that may think im doing something else in the evennig) got about 14 to 16 grams the strange thing is that it was all flood gold i worked the same area i did last summer
got down to solid rock base it was great able to see the gold just sitting on the rock base
when caz and i left there was about 5 colours just resting on rock base in about 50 mm of water (gess who left his crevice sucker at home) to shallow for the dredge
hope you all find the gold this break

Get over here - LepreSean and I were out last weekend as you might have gathered and I ended up with 34 grammes for about six to eight hours pottering. We are heading out again maybe Monday for an overnighter then about the fifteenth heading out again for maybe a week - if I havent woken up dead in between times.

time to trade my legs in on new ones took a bit of a fall 2 days ago spent 13+ hours to walk out
caz was a little concerned calling up on the radio but what can one do keep walking got some funny looks from tourists on the track with the blood running down both my legs told them i was attacked by some wild pigs dogs that had been let loose in the bush

I thought I was the only one who had accidents, mishaps, disasters and the odd crisis in the bush, mountains and great outdoors. That was no good but on the positive side you got out and thats the main thing.

yes you are right but thats at the north end of track
im operating on the west coast side and up into the hills
i havent as yet found any reference to gold in the creeks that come down on the coast side

never mind we pulledout of the area today so its now down to greynouth area for 8 to 10 weeks so should be able to find some more locations to post

cheers kiwikeith

Right. I wasnt sure how far the Aorere went. Do you shoot the possums for fur or just count them for information?

well its complecated we went in in aug traped them to count how many we got then let them go
one block we 1080 and the other we cholie droped (a proposed replacement to 1080) we have been in trapping again to see which works the best
1080 has a 3 way kill possums and rats almost 100% when the rats have gone then the stoats food is gone so they go as well
not to say im for 1080 but it does work
kills birds ? who knows some say yes but so do possums and rats take them out maybe a better rate of survival for birds but lets not debate 1080 on a gold mining forumof down to central in the morning for a bit of r & r

Right. That makes sense. Happy travels :)
Trying to decide whether to go home thru Murchison and the Lewis or go via Canvastown down the coast. Gotta find some colour for the family to let me go again.....they, like me, are covered in sandfly bites from my excorsions to the Aorere and Baton lol

hi ytb
no
he was going to buy but blow his head on the truck and snaped a belt on his dredge
its good to know who was visiting as he did tell me some one was there he didnt do to bad 16.5 grms in 2.5hours so that gives me 50% for sitting at home his name was mat

yes still for sale he was going to pay $25000 and expenses with no gear mat said it should produce a good 2 to 3 oz per week
that would mean diving in about 2m of water

thinking of saling my 5" dredge with all xtras package deal could be avilable
