Hi. My mate and I have a claim . My mates keen on selling it and me not quite so but its 2 branches so in theory it would be easy to split not sure I would want to go the whole hog and do the split with crown mins as I would think they would want $3200 for another claim. Theres no consent or right of access agreement but if you use a motor less than 6hp you dont need a consent from regional council provided you adhere to a few basic rules and if the motor is less than 5hp you dont need a right of access ageement from doc.
The bulk of it was mined back in the 80s with a digger but I talked to a jade carver a while back who was there when they mined it and he told me there screens were over loaded the whole time which explains the fine gold in the creek. Theres a couple of places where the creek cuts through virgin glacial, I have no idea if theres gold on the bottom there or not. There's also a bank where my mate and I did ok on the odd time. In another spot I got 1.5grms in an hour with just a pan and no screening bucket but I went back the next day and spent all day there with a prospecting sluice and didn't get any more than I got with a pan the day before. That was in a tail race. The biggest gold I have found so far was just on a gram. It's certainly no El Dorado but if you want somewhere to go without having to worry about looking over your shoulder then it could fit the bill.
I would have to talk to my mate but I can say we wouldn't be wanting 10s of 1000s for it.
Anyhow have a think about it and let me know. Your welcome to come and have a look whenever you want.
Cheers
Chris
