That is an ace reference so many thanks for sharing it - I think it is a clear lesson to many guys here that DIY is not dead and gone and sometimes it seems to me that guys buy commercial dredges because it seems to give an air of professionalism but many of the old timers still use gear which they made, modernised, modified, altered and rebuilt.
His pontoons are superb as they are really made on the cheap and well made as well.
I had my own made years ago and never finished then and now putting them up for sale - I would hate to think what it would cost to make them but all offers considered. Anyone interested can get in touch but dont spoil the thread by replying on it. I never finished the actual dredge but I did mount my pump and engine on it with the underwater dredge slung below it and used it as a 'jet boat' to power my way up the river!
They have been sitting in the tussocks for twenty years and just brought back to Dunedin in the last month...and the white grid beside it is whitebait spotter boards made form Palliside.
