And who knows, if you're very lucky you might find a big nugget like Henry did in the Arrow River...

Hi Gavin.

Was this the Nugget found in 2006 ?
Or has another one just been found lately in 2010 ??

Either way, it would be nice to know if he sold it legally! as it seems that he didnt have a claim license. But of course he could have found it in the recreational area ? (Not!?)

Cheers---Colin.

Was chatting to JW at the weekend about it and he seems to know a few people in the area and he's pretty convinced it was found in the recreational area.

The article's dated 2006 so I guess that must be the year he found it.

Though I must say - if you found gold illegally I bet claiming you found it in a public fossicking spot would occur to a lot of people!

Hi Gavin.

Yes, I guess that making that claim could work O.K.
But I think that fingers should be crossed at the time of doing so?

Cheers---Colin.

Nice sniping tools. These are the five things I always have with me: Shovel, screwdriver, hammer-pry bar, crevice scraper, turkey baster.

The turkey baster has a 1/4" OD copper tube going up to the top of it. Great for blowing out crevices and sucking up Au. Gold travels up copper tube and falls into the body of the baster and is trapped. You can also remove the top and drop pickers in while out in the river.

Second pic is findings from most recent trip to the American river. Largest piece 2.7 dwt or a little over 4 grams. All of the crevices and benches downstream of a spine of bedrock were packed. I'll try and get a pic of the river bend and point out the
Spine flow break.

Lastly, make sure you wrap tools in yellow electrical tape or duct tape. I've lost more tools in the past than I'd like to remember.

Very nice gold ronincolin, that 4 grammer sure is a beauty. I bet that it looked good underwater! :) Thanks for sharing
Cheers!
BTW thanks that's a good idea about taping your gear. I usually put some orange paint on the handles of my tools, but eventually it all gets scratched off. I get annoyed a bit when I look around trying to find a pinchbar and its sitting right in front of me in the gravel. lol :)
Good luck
