this site might be of interest to those of you that snipe or use a sluicebox.

http://GOLD-N-SAND.COM/

these guys seem to have sold a few of these suckers on ebay and now have there own site. i have researched a lot of contraptions and i think this will suit my need. thus i have ordered the version with the scope so i can see what i am doing. nothing like digging out to bedrock to see the gold that is still there but needs tweezered off bit by bit.

i have one of jw's snipers. this sort of design works great and is perfect for extended day walks.

i was after something that didn't need pulled to pieces with every snipe. thus the bucket design.

i am getting a couple of boomer boxes also. this will allow me to connect the sniper directly to my sluice for continuous sniping. a little bracket allows the box to slip onto the sluice's flare.

the second boomer box i will use to set my sluice up out of the water so i can run a bilge pump to pump water into the sluice powered by a deep cycle battery.

might be just in time with the conflageration overseas. i see the dollar is already heading down. good for gold prices but not so good for importing.

hopefully this gear gets here before xmas.

i will try and get some pics up of it in action once i have it here.

hopefully it all works out and is a cheaper way of working than a suction dredge. at least it will be legal for the hindrances that make a miners life difficult these days.

Hi there Simon, Thanks for the plug on the crevice snipper (crevice sucker) I went up a Coromandel creek yesterday for the day & just used a little shovel to get down to the bed rock & then used the crevice sucker to clean up the bed rock & the cracks & crevices. Dumped the sucked up material into my pan & panned off. This was the result. Not a lot I know, but that is the Coromandel for you. :) Better than a poke in the eye with a blunt stick :)

You will notice how rough & shotty the gold is & the little bits of stone in there have gold attached as well. Here is a bit more of a close up.

The bigger specimen piece was got by just using the crevice sucker with out the nosey parker retention chamber fitted. This way I can suck up material as big as 38mm as the sucker pipe is 40mm inside diameter. This is good for cleaning down to the bed rock & then use the nosey parker attachment to flush out & suck up the cracks & crevices. I didnt even know that specimen piece was in there until I panned off. You just cant see most of the gold when cleaning up the bed rock & the cracks & crevices. It is all done blind.
Coro gold is certainly different to your south island gold. Here is a couple of close ups of both sides of the speci. Speci weighed 3.5 grams.

I am working on a bilge pump powered crevice sucker. It isnt for moving large volumes of material but just for cleaning out the cracks & crevices once the bigger material is cleaned off.
I have had a good look at that golden sands sucker pump a few years ago......I will reserve my opinion on it.....Be interesting to hear your report on it since you are getting one....

Happy hunting

Regards

John :)
