Hi all, this is my first post. Have really enjoyed reading all your posts as well. Thought I'd put up a recent find, for a bit of inspiration.

Another one from Christchurch. We need to have a get-togther.

A bit wet and miserable right now. Is there an indoor coin-filled park anywhere?

Sorry guys, I think my files were a little large. I'll give it another go a bit later.

Thanks oroplata, yes always keen to get out somewhere. Hopefully this rain should make digging a little easier lol

Cheers David

I found 1933 pocket watch two weeks ago and plan on going out with Oroplata sometime this week. Want to meet someplace and compare notes and try our luck? Pm/email me/us if you keen. Cant wait to see what you found, what detector u use and any neat tricks you employ.
Cheers
Chris

Yah both detected and both were only a few meters apart. Sovereign and Sixpence. I thought it was a $1 coin for a while lol

Nice score! Obviously you won't want to give exact locations I'm guessing, but how about the general terrain out of curiosity? Did you find them on a beach, in the city, in the hills, etc?

Judging from the condition of the sovereign, I'd say it was found in soft soil, rather than beach sand! :)

Once the rain stops and the temperature goes up a bit, let's head somewhere. I'm itching to get out there.

I keep thinking that ski fields such as Coronet Peak would be excellent places for your metal detectors. The fields have just closed. Try under the chairlifts. People are always fishing into their pockets with gloves on to get their mobiles & money must fall out.

Awesome tip Shelia! May have to try at some ski-field over Arthurs Pass once all the snow's melted!

Ha ha, yah theres probably no better place to lose stuff then in the snow.

The sovereign was found in soil and remarkably good condition and one I was happy not to nick with the digging tool!

Someone told me they go up under the chair lift without a detector and just pick the money up off the ground once the snow melts.
