Well I was there. Seaward end of creek . Just below old stamp and battery site. Meet the local farmers who are very anti-minning and they said they don't mind panning .

MMMmmm, yes I to wonder to how he did. Maybe it wasnt very good as he has made no mention of it at all except that he was there. Or did he?? Maybe he is keeping it to himslef, hence the very low profile. I got a little colour but nothing to really bragg about.
But the south island....now thats a different story. :)

Heading down South on Sunday for a month before Christmas.

Not looking forward to the sandflies but I expect the rewards to be more easily obtained than up here.

O.K. I 'am here , as they say on the "Gold Fever" program on the out door chanel in America . I'am working on a real gold getting machine , which is half made and will be ready for Christmas. Now how did we get on ? Well as they say in USA . We didn't get enough to buy a can of beans ! As the famous Charles Garrett says ,Do your research , learn how to use your gear and be persistent.

Gidday EAF,

Nice to see you again. Are you working on a camouflaged excavator and trommel, or something a little smaller. As you are aware, panners are tolerated, anything more mechanised is likely to be frowned upon, if it is located.
Did you get that motor you were after?. Have you considered adapting a blower/vac? Good luck with whatever you embark upon. A lot of the reward in this game is making something and then seeing if it will work.

I've got a Strongman 1 inch water pump , cost $350 , ( www.premiumpower.co.nz ) It's really quiate for a 2 stroke . Just finished making a cone shaped muffler , which makes it even quiater. All I'am doing is hoovering the cracks in the bed rock , not moving large beds. No one will know where I've been .

Hi there EAF, Good luck but be VERY careful when using a motor/pump in the Coromandel. It really doesnt pay to say that kind of thing on this site. Enviroment Waikato do graze this site. Hence my silence lately.
No matter how stealth you think you are being on the Coromandel.....someone will know you are there & what you are doing. Most couldnt care but it only takes ONE arsehole.

Happy hunting.

JW :)

Hi there EAF, You dont really have much choice when you live in Auckland but to go to the Coromandel to try your luck at finding some gold. I am not trying to put you or anybody else off but you just have to be very careful what you are actualy doing, where you are doing it & what gear you are using. I know what has happened to me & a few others. Locals always know a strange (non local) vehicle when it is parked up some where & they take note.
How did you do at the Tapu & what sort of gear have you made up? Good luck & happy hunting

JW :).

Hi.
Well as you all know, the gold in this area is very fine and not a lot of it . So I was using 8 seives that stack on top of each other which I got from USA through the Gold Prospecting Assciation of America which I'am a member . This saves so much work and panning . Even seiving gravel down to the same size makes panning ten times faster. I also was hand sucking the cracks with a pump. I've got free DVDs on this and other stuff , but no ones interested in that , to bad. These people from Waikato Envoriment ? What do their cars look like ? Do they have Waikato Envoriment Dept on them ? Has anyone from this forum spied on them ? After all they are supposed to be spying on us ! What would happen if someone put a picture on the forum of their company car with this is the person who is spying on you ! Or print where they live. This would really freck them out.
In East Auckland we had a problem with parking wardens around the boat ramps. Most people with a boat have a board with the trailer lights ,rego and warrent and when you throw your boat in the water , you put the board in the back of the car. Now while the car is parked , the parking (wankers ) wardens would write you a ticket for no rego ect. It's called work creation. There was a write up in the logal rag. It carraied on. Then for some reason and no one knows why , it stopped.

That is crazy! I hope they don't start that in Nelson - I would be in that category.
