Description sounds like the Īnangahua quake in 1968.

Or possibly the Murchison one in '28?

I know a fair bit of this part of the country..you'd have to be keen.
Anyone interested in this should definately do testing before signing anything in my humble opinion

yeah i thought it had to be down that way due to the mention of one of the worlds largest landslides. and the river deduced to little of what it had been due to damming.
Sounds pricey for a river claim to me. think i'm more interested in how the slide threw up the gold than the claim itself.

I am no expert but that advert seems to have been written by someone with a very limited understanding of gold.
"Assay show up to 31g Ag per cubic meter of sand from the cracks"
-Ag is silver and it takes a lot of cracks to hold 1 cubic meter of sand.

"Gold disturbance happened when 17 km^3 of land slide created a giant wave and lifted gold deposits and formed into leads"
-this is just bizzare, obviously talking about the green lake landslide.

Take a lot of heed!
And now....On sandy beaches and muddy soil, rings and coins await my coil!

1864hatter, yeah, it did strike me as odd in general the listing. i don't get the sand in cracks volume at all. and how the gold got sweep away in the landslide tidal wave... The reason i thought i'd check here to see where it was was it sounded like it was referred to as untouched in the goldrush due to being up too high but i guess i read that wrong and it was down too deep as the river is just a shadow of its former self in water volume due to the bulk now existing into deep cove. i guessed it was this green lake slide but didnt pick the dam as its generation didnt match the capacity stated.

The waiau is still a decent size river though. i really wonder how much gold is there. i know a lot was found down at orepuki and guess it came from somewhere but figured it was old leads in the longwoods.
