Number 3, fairly cool thing to be found by detectorists.

Though I'd rather not detect other countries, as they have lots of bombs.
Infact Germans consider accidental fatal bomb explosions (often during construction work) to be normal!

You will want to avoid Laos then.... we have company policies and cardinal rules around finding and handling UXO...

From 1964 to 1973, the U.S. dropped more than two million tons of ordnance on Laos during 580,000 bombing missions—equal to a planeload of bombs every 8 minutes, 24-hours a day, for 9 years – making Laos the most heavily bombed country per capita in history....

A visit to "Cope" is a must if you visit Vientiane http://www.copelaos.org/visit.php

Problem is that people are so poor and scrap metal so valuable, a family will save up and buy a $50 metal detector from Vietnam and send the kids out looking.... needless to say the fatality rate is quite high for this occupation...

Nice to see them getting out there though, perhaps they could pull a rake over the area from a distance with a long rope.
Perhaps hide behind a tree or rock when digging.
