I shall now attach a strong magnet(rare earth Neodymium) to the end of my Mattock, to quicky extract & find iron items/junk.
Sure is easier than rummaging around in a hole getting the pointer dirty.

Edit: I've since discovered they are called Magnet Canes, some people use them to collect meteorites - some of which are of similar value to gold.
