My New Ctx3030 arrived in the post on Tuesday, so, after 9 hours of detecting, here are the results:

Hunt #1:
The Local Park: (this place has been hammered by me and many other detectorists)

Results: 2 silvers,
$5 Spendies,
brass cufflink,
Some old decimals,
h-crown+florin,
Keys.

We took the ctx to our local park, we've hammered this spot and know of other detectorists who have as well. The ctx performed well, achieving good depth and accurate IDs. We found many coins that the AT Pro had missed and even two silvers. The ctx3030, being extremely sensitive, made us dig many pieces of tiny aluminium foil that even the pin-pointer could not find. Overall, very impressed with the ctx's performance, battery life and weight balance.

Hunt #2:
Wet/dry salty sand.

Results: $4,
Key.

This hunt was really, only a quick test run to see how the detector performed in the dry sand, wet sand and salt water. We found the ctx3030 to be a very good wet sand/water hunting detector, as, even in black sand deposits, in knee deep water, the detector would not chatter, false or lose depth. Even though we only found a few dollars, we gained high expectations for future hunts. We also found that the ctx3030 likes keys, as it found 6 keys in one day (two of which were handed into the police station.

Hunt #3:
Knee Deep Salt Water Hunt.

Results: You'll just have to read on and see.

Experimentally, we decided to do a salt water hunt in knee deep water, hoping for the big one. Decent signals were few and far between, most yielding foil or corroded can tabs, although, 10 minutes through the hunt, the ctx made a strong, high squeak and the numbers 12:32 showed on the screen, at a depth of 8 inches. hoping that this signal would be the one, we scooped with our home-made "super sand scoop" and there, glinting in the scoop was a 12 gram, 9 carat white gold mens wedding band. We were extremely impressed with the ctx3030. It would not false, even in the biggest patches of wet sand and even with the seawater setting off, the saltwater would not affect it. The depth of the ctx3030 is outstanding with the wedding band giving off a strong clear signal at eight inches.

Oh. And I wouldnt dunk the control box underwater. A lot of people have had probs, mainly leakage into the battery connection. Google CTX3030 Forum, there are three good forums that come up. The fix for the battery compartment is dealt with in detail.
