There are places where I find many small nuggets. So I figure someone might want to know where this is & sluice it.
I'll take soil samples & test to see how much gold comes out.
Think I could sell for $200 on Trademe, offering to forum members first.
Though some locations might be up on a hill far from water sources.
What do you think?
(I only detect so no interest in sluicing.)

South Island. I doubt the North Island would have enough to be worthwhile.

Interesting idea. Obviously the locations would have to be in either public fossicking areas or on somebody's claim for the scheme to be remotely legal.
And now....On sandy beaches and muddy soil, rings and coins await my coil!

That's one way to make the hobby pay. Might make more than the actual finding of gold if you have good spots not many people know about.

Just to clarify:
Not planning on surveying the entire island & filling my pack with soil that may not even result in any interested parties.
I was only trying to make a little money back to cover some of my tramping costs, and my pack is very heavy so having a few little soil samples (in addition to loads of gold nuggets) takes a real toll on my back.

Gingerbreadman, what did you say haha. got deleted as you got someone excited.
Nothing like a bit of excitement on this forum.
I hardly visit this much anymore as nothing ever seems to happen, so sad i missed it.
Seems like everyone has either left or got wise and clammed up on spilling the beans and now just stalks the site in terms of the gold.
We need a good gold site on Facebook, something like the Queenstown sites for whinging, rooms to rent, etc. Some good old slayings and tit for tats on those, haha.

Undeleted the post. Someone seemed to think it was inflammatory so I removed it to be on safe side. Thought you were posting in good jest myself but hard to tell sometimes - problem with forum posts, emails, etc. easy to take the wrong way. Sorry about that. I try and leave posts alone, don't like moderating peoples stuff, will stay a bit more hands off again ;) Good on ya for not getting upset and confirming nothing bad was meant - appreciated.

I'll be sure to show Gingerbread the first lost nuggets I rescue from the wilderness.

The spot price of gold is the average that people are willing to pay.
Also that is the stock exchange traded gold, they don't take into account any private sales (personal, shop, trademe, ebay). So they only show the investment/jewelers/industrial prices.

You can sell gold at the spot price high of 2011, just takes a bit longer.

Haha, i've had worse said. No offence taken whatsoever. Admit Facebook has its ups and downs haha.

In regards to these gold locations offered what is the deal? Still some up for grabs or all taken?

I see mention of dirt samples. Why would you have dirt samples, wouldn't it be enough just to keep any gold from each spot. I presume there must be GPS co ordinates detailing where each gold sample has been found or something like that? Or just photos? What sort of money are you asking Mr Pandemic?

To stay in the bush for weeks at a time with a GPX detector requires a dynamo generator. This will also allow me to recharge my phone (for pictures) & batteries for underwater torch, pointer etc.
Then my only requirement is food.
Bought one from USA but the stand it came with weighed a shit tonne, and designed to work with the back wheel of a bicycle.
1. can't cart a bike into bush (I did consider it).
2. not very efficient.
3. I had to construct my own foldable stand with pedals & chain to dynamo - compact to fit into my pack ( still weighs a tonne - maybe 10kg). Also it was my first experience trying to drill & hacksaw stainless steel, I had no idea how tough it was and that it required titanium coated or cobalt drill bits.
Most exciting moment was the possum & my shorts ripped doing jumps across a sheer slip.

Making the GPX submersible took much longer than expected as I needed to remove detector plug ends to fit waterproof seals onto cables.

I was also desinging a 1 metre coil - however that will have to be put off til next time.

As for my Coromandel trip, I could write that up. But I was very limited by rain prone detector. I did not want to trek all the way into the bush only to be holed up there by rain for days on end. In the future I will return and do a proper trek into the bush.
