The weight limit is 32kg, my pack might be over that.
Are there any alternatives, such as a private boat, that anyone knows of for getting across?
I don't want to fly. ( or swim :) )

Split your pack load and courier half over the strait.

Time it right and you'll probably head over on the same boat as the courier.

Its 32kg per bag and max two checked bags no? Split then repack to one once your across.

Or $50 to load over weight luggage on a trolley...

Yep, I might have to load up my jacket pockets. Put my full wetsuit on, with longjohns over the top :) with swimfins.
It won't be a pretty 3 hour ride, but if the ferry goes down, I'll be the most prepared passenger.
Wonder if they would let me hop aboard in a sleeping bag... hop hop hop...
