hi all,hope all goes well in nz,had a wonderfull old ring find today plenty of wind here lately moved plenty of sand could tell i was on it when i dug a 1900 us barber quarter a first,and down on the rocks two scoops down a lovely big opal came up. encrusted with crud.dont know what type of opal it is theres so many types,so much variation in values,its going to be fun finding out good luck.

Very nice.

I think the biggest opal I've found in a ring was about the size of a grain of rice !

Great score Roy . I still remember the lovely gold ring with the small heart shaped opal you found in south hagley.....now you've had two opal rings! Cool.

still got it andrew,happy days eh!! still working out what to do with this ring,looks like the opal has moved back in its setting ,needs to be reset and it may be the job for a jeweler the ring is only 9ct and very often they break when you try to polish them up.
