Hi all, if this is in the wrong forum, please move it appropriately.
I've been looking to by a Goldbug, and have researched quite a bit.
If I am just one of many to point others to what appears to be fakes please excuse me.
Are any in New Zealand?

The second seller has some hilarious feed back this one was my favorite-

"""The seller is a liar and a cheater! The merchandise is a fake! Does not work! To take back the goods and return the money does not want! The protection period has expired and the seller has stopped responding! I will solve the problem through the administration! Be aware that the original product should cost more than 5 000$! If cheaper - it will not be functioning! /// Продавец обманщик и мошенник! Товар подделка! Не работает! Принимать обратно товар и возвращать деньги продавец не хочет! Срок защиты истек и продавец перестал отвечать! Буду решать проблему через администрацию! Знайте, что оригинальный товар должен стоить больше 350 000руб.! Если дешевле - работать товар не будет! Продавец - гандон!""""

Outwardly they look rather good, but inside will just be Chinese low spec circuitry. One even claims to operate at 19 khtz,
I didn't think the Chinese could make anything beyond 6.5khtz. lol If they are not in NZ yet, they soon will be.

I respectfully disagree. I install a lot of Chinese manufactured electronic equipment.
Some brands are excellent. Some the quality is variable and some are just plain old crap.
Where I have a issue is with manufacturers ripping off and damaging other brands.
I would suggest that the best way protecting your self against being duped is to buy from a local retailer.
I bought all my new detectors and pinpointers locally from reputable nz based sellers and I have been more than happy with the service and support i have received.
This level of service and peace of mind far outweighs the few bucks I might have saved by trying to import it myself.

Perhaps the initial image on the second (lower) address is that of a genuine Fisher Gold bug.
I can't make out the Fisher on the smaller images. Very similar but....
On another note, I like my Chinese GC1038 detector so much, I'd buy another for parts, if only the single Trademe supplying dealer hadn't run out of stock. It has found me a bunch of coins and is light and quiet, until it finds something.

I think you miss-understood my post -

I did not say that the following are "the only actual trusted New Zealand suppliers"

OP was questioning Fisher fakes

Fisher Gold Bug - NZ dealer 'puiaki supply' -

detectNZ - Minelab Dealer who does NOT sell Fisher -

All the other dealers CAN be trusted and have been dealing here in NZ for quite some time now. I also used to be a equal owner of Detect Direct before starting earthSCAN and believe my customers have no problems trusting me -

I have also been in contact with the Garrett Dealers - Deus Dealer - Tesoro Dealer and Mainlands Minelab Dealer and they too seem to be honest and trusting - Thank goodness more people are now representing top detectors here in NZ -

All actually trusted by their numerous customers - I hope this clears up any confusion your post may have caused

Gee I rather wish I hadn't posted my initial message. I merely meant to state that in my research about Goldbugs, I had come across fake ones.
I certainly didn't suggest I was contemplating buying one. My initial thinking is that some people here have issues.
Perhaps it would be better if I deleted this sites bookmark, given than angst my post caused.

with respect, thank you for highlighting the ongoing counterfeits coming out of China, however being a dealer who represents a Chinese manufacturer I can assure you that the units I sell are made as well as the US made ones, perform like the US ones and are a lot cheaper than the US ones. They are also NOT counterfeirs or fakes.......

I see too you are a Chinese detector owner -

Would you consider swapping out mine for yours for a couple of weeks as I have always wanted to try GC1038?

Then you can get to experience the fantastic GF2

Sorry if I caused you or LittleKiwiDetecting offense as I get a little defensive when it comes to Chinese knockers (not the boob ones either) ;)

Where are you based Keith? I'd be keen on lending you the 1038. For its price, ($114.00 on trademe)
it is a nice looking, very robust, beautifully balanced, easy to use detector that is surprisingly sensitive.
Ok it is a beep and dig, single tone machine, but it does beep on my test baggie, little nugget. (3x2x1.5mm size)
That is an air test at 1 to 2 cm. Not a serious gold finding contender to be sure, but a good, basic coin machine.

For the record, I did last week purchase a 4 month old Goldbug at a very reasonable price.
I am super impressed with its sensitivity. I buried the previously mentioned nugget at 4 inches under the turf of my lawn,
and the GB found it with ease. Ditto for a paper thin, river worn gold flake, 2.5 times the width of a pin head, placed on the
tar seal road outside my home. Can't wait to try my gold spot.

I am down in Southland Mate -

I am not looking at buying one but I do like to test and review as many metal detectors as I can so I can pass on sound advice on the different brands out there -

I thought it would be nice to take your unit for a run and let you see that China does indeed make quality detectors that will keep up with the much more expensive ones here -

If you are keen or anyone else for that matter feel free to contact me through my website -

I fully appreciate you are not interested in buying a GC1038, but given that I have reported,
pretty much what you will, about the machine, it hardly seems worth the 2 way shipping costs.
