Be advised... Between 5th and 20th of November the NZ army are on exercise around Murch-- 2000 trigger happy squaddies will be shouting bang you're dead at each other lol. No live rounds but plenty of blanks and flashbangs, choppers planes and armoured vehicles.
Might be wise to avoid the area...

Thanks for the info overdog, but it will take more than an army exercise to keep me away from fossicking for the yellow stuff. If I run into some army types do think they would be interested in blowing up some large boulders for me?

Sadly I doubt if soldiery types will have anything remotely explosive apart from perhaps some thunderflashes. They are ok for the odd trout or taking off some fingers, but that is about all.
