My detector came with two 11" coils, mono & DD.
I'm considering purchasing these coils:
Coiltek
40x20" Goldhunting mono salty, waterproof
24x12" DD Goldhunting waterproof
For deep targets.

6" Goldstalker mono waterproof
Minelab 10x5" DD coil
For thick overgrowth/tussock/bush

Someone claimed it was easy enough to make you own coils, which sounds like a great idea too.

Easy to make your own coil, yes.
Even easier to buy a manufactured coil which is tuned and balanced for optimum performance.

I run a 15" which needs a harness for anything more than a couple of hours, and I'm not a featherweight in the strength department.

The large coil weighs over 2kg, and the next is over 1kg.

I have two harness cords, have no idea how the second one connects but I'm sure I'll work it out when things begin to get heavy. (It has loop on one end and a 3 hole plastic pass through, the other end is plain.)

I'm also quite fit.
And prepared to switch arms if I do get tired.

I've changed my mind about the [40x20" Goldhunting mono salty] and found a 1.27m waterproof coil from

Sadly, these coils don't work well with GPX :C

And the 24x12" is not a DD coil after all :C

So I've decided to make my own coil.
I'll have a go at making a DD too
