Here are a few pics of a stainless steel digging tool a friend of mine has been experimenting with. Its just a prototype at this stage and he has lent it to me for testing. Its constructed of heavy gauge stainless and very well put together. The handle just slides in and out for now with plans for a locking system. There is a bit of weight involved but you wont be breaking it in a hurry. It is a tad bigger than an average digging tool as the comparison in pic two. A serated edge option is there two but he informs me its a lot more work for this.
A customer of mine is taking me to an old time local spot today where i can detect (and collect oysters) so i will test drive it there, hope to unearth something nice in the process.

Had a great time out with Esther collecting oysters and testing the proto digging tool. The tool itself worked very well with its solid construction working well when digging. Most of the finds i made were only a couple of inches deep bar one find deep in the sand.
In all it was heaps better than using my small garden trowel. Instead of the long handle a T bar is going to be welded on so as to aid in keeping it steady when digging. I also used it to pry some oysters from the rocks.
The long handle is going to be used on another proto digging tool.
Shame i have to give it back as its a neat piece of kit. Hopefully i can sway a deal to retain it once finished.

The place we went to is an old time spot and was very interesting with its historical background. Back in the day the mail boat would drop off the local mail which came from Russel. There was a school near by and the students would wonder over to collect it. This would explain the lead mail tag i found. Also found were some fishing net lead weights and a five cent piece which was out of period.

Hi there.
My friend is making a couple as we speak. One with a long handle which would be perfect for out in the hills digging GOLD. Because of its toughness it wont break so will be reliable when away in the middle of nowhere.
A second type will be made of 2mm stainless with a short handle, trowel style. This will suit the everyday detectorist in the parks etc. Again will be very tough and vertually indestructable.
Will put them up for viewing on buy and sell when ready. Shouldnt be too far away will give him a little hurry along today.

Awesome, but at the moment I won't be able to get one. Sorry. But they are awesome and I reckon you won't have any trouble selling them. Thanks creamer.

The Prospector Stainless Digging Tool

Made from 316 marine grade stainless these digging tools are excellantly made and very tough.
There are two here for sale, one with a short handle and one long handle and both are made as one piece. No doubt they should last you a life time.
The long handle one would be perfect for prospecting the hills and creeks. A great piece of kit if you need something tough and reliable to go the distance.
The short handle one is just as good and can be used for all applications.

Dimensions.
Short handle. 350mm long, 2mm thick blade, weighs approx 550g. $150
Long handle. 490mm long, 3mm thick blade, weighs 700g. $175
Please PM if you are interested.
