Have you tried a pencil rubbing as in a piece of paper and pencil. Might bring out that 0 or 6. I still see a 0.

Good thinking. That's what we did at school quite some time ago.

hi andrew, thanks for the pics the more i look at it the more i see a 0. option 1 put it in the sonic cleaner hope that it moves the bit in the middle of the said zero [ or to see a six come to life] option 2, olive oil it see what happens. option 3 toothbrush it and risk loosing some more detail.

The first pic appears to be a zero.
However, in the inverted pics, the last digit looks to be tilted, which implies it's a '6'.
I'm going to call Occams Razor on this one.

Microscope job to confirm either way.

I think its a 0. the little bit that makes it look like perhaps 6 i reckon is part of the tarnishing. Just doesn't look right for a 6. can you compare pics online of what the bottom part of the 6 and 0 would look like as i know sometimes one number is more of an oblong shape while the other is wider and more round. i know its hard to tell with the tarnishing. first impressions usually count the most. if you look too hard it can become anything.

Steady as she goes, cleaning it may devalue it.
