where to sell gold rings,
is it better to melted down or leave as is?

Melt them down, lose hallmarks, pay for re-assay
Sell as scrap, get maybe 40% gold value in the hand.

Selling as jewellery items gets a much better return.


Or just collect them and go all Gollum.

Few years ago i picked up a large gold ring at Woodpecker bay north of Greymouth with a date 1892 stamped on it. I took the ring to a local jeweler he offere me $40 for it.....he was having me on of course..melted it down and sold it for $345 to a local gold buyer.
