Was out enjoying the cold night air, first target was a nice military button, have no idea what it says, thought to myself awesome good start, 3rd target started to cut the plug then snap, my Lesche digger snapped..is this normal, only had it less than a year and never rough with it. Guttered.

Hey mate, I think they have a built in sensor which automatically decouples the blade half way through if you go over 465 silver coins in one calendar year.
Lol sorry couldn't resist. I've never owned a lesche but imagine that like other metals it will suffer from metal fatigue. So even if you are not rough with it the repeated stressing of the metal back and forth will weaken it...until it eventually breaks.
And now....On sandy beaches and muddy soil, rings and coins await my coil!

I think (think) the button is Victorian era, and possibly army - looks very similar to one I dug at an old guys place. Don't have it to compare as I gave him all the finds since they were family items.

Fairly sure it's the same button.

Shame about the blade. I use a Gator(?) from KellyCo, have given it some real punishment and so far so good... Few times I've thought, " Shouldn't be putting this much leverage on it"
Price we pay for hardened blades I suppose.

Check this out Eric.
I have swung on mine and really tried to break it but can't. Also seems to stay sharper longer and in about one year
have only filed it lightly once.

Yes less than a year does seem not very long but I guess it has a lot to do with how often it's used.

Yeah does have a five year warranty, I'm sorting it out with the Cool Fellas at Puiaki Supply, yes its done a lot of digging and never really put a lot of force on it. Will see what happens, if negotiations fail I have a mate that deals in steel so might have a custom one made that will last a lifetime

I broke mine in exactly the same spot on the blade. Did it a year and a half ago and still waiting for it to be replaced. Poobear took it back with him and even after countless calls PMs and txts I still havnt seen a replacement. Shame really cause there service use usually pretty good.

Ive got one of Metal Kiwis ones. Not that I have used it much eh Chrispy. But I reckon you could stab an elephant to death with it.
No silvers for me so far. But a few elephants have bit the dust. Lol. Its longer and lethal. Well built and a great holster comes with it..

Kinda like the lesche, not to long and intrusive, when I detect I carry the digger and pinpointer in my left hand, makes digging quick not having to reach in and out my holsters, funny how habits form.

Can attest to how well this thing goes, my partner got me one for my birthday last year, poor things been put through some tough times and is still going strong. You can also sharpen it very easily if it starts to slide on roots rather than cut the.
