great to see some gold photo's well done, didnt think anyone could find much gold round coro, lol, just to spoiled in Otago I guess. Couldnt help noticing earlier on this thread, that someone was cooking mercury off outside!!! I hope you were retorting it properly and not letting the mercury vapour go off into the environment...mmmm.. I'll let you think about that.

Not much happening on the forum today so I thought I would put these up.

Went up a creek on Friday I hadn't been to before. It was full of boulders that kept getting bigger until these arrived, all about the size of a car.

About 100m from the main highway were a couple of those round holes in the bedrock made by a stone going round and round for a million years.
I sucked them out and found this bit of dust at the bottom, which does indicate the stream is worth another visit, especially as there are dozens of these holes up there.

Went for a walk up the hill and dropped down into the creek about a kilometre further upstream.

Just a jumble of rocks. Couldn't find any bedrock at all in the stream bed.

Panned out a bit of moss and found that there was fine gold in most of it. Knowing that there is gold in the river, you just need to find a likely place that will reward the effort of getting there.

Hi there Garry,Good to see you getting out there & getting some colour. Well done. That sure is a boulder strewen stream. Mind you many of the Coro creeks are like that. Hard going too, like you say, to find some bedrock.

Good luck out there

JW :)
