Hi guys..here is a pic of my only nugget..3 years ago while on my honeymoon we went down the west coast and stayed at hokitika...as i like my panning we toured about a bit and went into the ross area to a river/creek there..we were only going to stay for an hour or so for me to do a bit of panning as i didnt want my new wife to just be sitting there reading..so off i went and i got a we bit of color..then i dug just under the bank a bit and bang i got this little nugget...it isnt big but it is my first and my heart started racing..needless to say we spent the better part of the day there after that..hahaha my wife didnt mind much she went and took pictures and read a big book.

sorry the picture isnt great but neither is the camera or the lighting this time of night..

Well done Chris.

Any nugget in a pan is a good reward. Wait until you can get some kids into it. Pieces much smaller than this will become nuggets.

Its a great wee nugget and you have done better than I did when I was last at Ross! I got two colours!
Even after years of looking for gold it gives you a heck of a kick to get one that size in a new river or after a goldminers drought so I think you did really well.

I tried the public fossicking area at Ross. Again, limited time (about 1 hour) but some colour at the bottom of my pan.

Lyell Creek only gave me sand fly hassles despite processing using a sluice box. The heat got to me by midday.
