I was not going to contribute to the forum again but feel compelled to do so here. Colin had written to me on several occasions and of all members he was the one with whom I did feel the strongest rapport as he understood me and I understood him and thus I feel a genuine sadness to hear that he has headed west. He had explained how he was crook but I was hoping that he would overcome it so that we could meet in person one day but it isnt to be on this physical plain...if he is looking down from on high then I hope he reads this, that I hope he has many adventures on the next plain and maybe beyond the Great Divide we will meet someday. . This forum has lost a great member and contributor, one of the few with genuine experiences spanning most of a lifetime with sound advice and great yarns of times past to share with others and like me proud of the fact that he lived the life and times that he did with no regrets.
So long Colin, you were only 72 I believe, far too young to pan that last pan, to walk that last valley and to enjoy that last cuppa in the hills but as they say, only the good die young.

My sincere Condolence to Colin's Family at this time, and something to share that my bring a smile remember When u were born u were crying and every1 around u was smiling, live life 2the fullest, so that when u die, u are smiling and every1 around u is crying! Further more “Life is not a journey to the grave with intentions of arriving safely in a pretty well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming ... WOW! What a ride!”

i never met colin as i am fairly new here but he sounds like the type i would of liked to meet..an old timer with lots to say and when said you better be listening.
i have a friend like that ...that i almost lost last year when him and his wife went on holiday..he is in his 70's and full of knowledge.

so as a new comer who has never met you colin i say rest in piece and may you find the big gold in the sky.

Cheers

Thank you for all your well wishes

Dad will be greatly missed by all family and friends.
He loved having a good old chat with a cuppa tea wether it was on here or in person, he would make time for anyone.
And yes i do agree Bugger he wa taken to ealry he had so much more to do but now he can find his golden nugget in the sky and point you buggers in the right direction to the gold.

The Old Miner

With shirtsleeves rolled up to his elbows, an old gold miner knelt beside a sparkling stream of water, bubbling with life. His weather-beaten hands clutched a sizable sieve like those used years ago for panning gold. On it rested a massive amount of dirt and rocks of all sizes, shapes and hardness.

Undaunted, he knelt there, concentrating on the debris. Shaking the sieve with vigor, then again with tenderness, he continued his mission, as if on a treasure hunt for some mysterious element. The dirt and smaller pebbles slipped through the holes in the screen, disappearing downstream into water. The remaining larger, coarse rocks on the screen grated against each other, altering their appearance.

Tears began to trickle down his furrowed cheeks and fall upon the transformed rocks, washing away the leftover traces of dirt. An all-knowing smile gradually spread across his aged face. His eyes twinkled, reflecting the anticipated precious treasure, the golden gems now resting on the sieve.

He glanced up and whispered, “My Word is the screen sifting out all the impurities of your life, while the Living Waters wash them away. In my love for you, I am ever at work in your circumstances. As they rub against you, they transform you and rid you of those things that would dirty your life and taint your work for Me. As I remove them, you are made into that precious, golden gem, reflected in my eyes.”

Through this vision, the Lord showed me that, no matter what circumstances occur in my life, no matter how relentlessly they rub against me, He allows them all to be sifted through His Word, His love, and His fingers, changing me into His image and that golden reflection in His eyes.

“This means tremendous joy to you, even though at present you may be temporarily harassed by all kinds of trials. This is no accident – it happens to prove your faith, which is infinitely more valuable than gold..."

very sad to hear that Teresa and condolences to you and the family. I'm very new here but over the last few months have read your fathers views, comments and helpful ideas and enjoyed them emmensly.

He was double hard, wise (yes sometimes cantankerous lol but that reminded him of my own father) and very quick to point out his views and feelings and sometimes with a vigor more so than many of us younger buggers in here.

Forums like this, make it possible that his views and helpfulness, but more importantly, His name will live on forever.

Good on ya Col live it up with the big man in the sky and may your pan always remain full.

RIP
Dan

From the early days of this forum, I learnt a lot about gold from a man with a heart of gold.

Rest in peace Colin,
Roman.
