Hi guys,

This is my first post. I have been detecting for a couple of years, I recently upgraded to an AT Pro with AT pro-pointer.

I had a stunning day at my local park today using a home-made lesche tool that a fellow detectorist kindly gave me.

The park gave up $10.40 in goldies, some old decimal coinage, some other sundry items and two english pennies: 1938 and 1921.

THE BEST FINDS OF THE DAY: a 1942 NZ threepence in beautiful condition plus my very first trade token: an 1874 George McCaul Grahamstown in beautiful condition with great detail. I wonder how a token from Grahamstown (modern day Thames) got to Tauranga?

Amongst the sundry items, there was a possibly military tag with 17 stamped onto the front. I have included a close-up photo of this. If anyone knows anything about this tag, the info would be greatly appreciated.

The 17 tag could be a miners tag for clock in, clock out.

Yeah, I think that the tag could be a miners tag, especially because the token is from Thames and was probably dropped around the gold-rush era.

Thats a good haul.
As for trade tokens we found a Christchurch one 1860's, up here in the Bay a couple of years back.
Also found one of similiar date up here from Aussie and a couple from Auckland from memory.
