Too impatient to wait. Stage one: removed rubber switch cover and circuit board. Noted how much sand had found it's way inside - assume through LED port. Silicone around LED and it's wee foam gasket, replaced into housing Silicone in rubber button cover seat and replaced. Thin neo gasket cut to fit cap and a sniff of vacuum grease on thread, O ring and gasket surfaces. It'll be doing half hour or so at 3m with me tomorrow - let you know :) (It's freshwater, so no serious harm if it implodes)
