G'day Steve, Nice to see some gold up on the site. You still up my way or have you headed back south?
There are many theories as to how gold evolved & weather it was actualy made & evolved from within our own earth or weather it was already part of the earth as a remanent from the big bang, I guess we will never really know for sure. But I think it is quite obvious, in my tiny mind any way, that it has come to us on the earths surface from deep down below in the form of epithermal & hyrothermal deposits, of which I wont go in to detail about, but that through erossion & weathering it has been freed from its host matrix & liberated from the quartz reefs in the form of specimen pieces, with quartz still attached, & free gold that we find in the rivers & streams that has had all the quartz broken away & removed, as alluvial gold.

All the best & happy hunting

JW :)

I am no expert on the subject but I am pretty sure gold does not evolve. Gold is an element like oxygen or carbon. It can move around and mix with other things but gold is gold. People who hunt gold on the other hand can evolve, or more likely devolve. That would be interesting to see actually, pictures of people before they started fossicking and after. I am certain this was not at all helpful, I am going to bed.

Yep gold is gold. Due to certain properties, and by analogy, it's associated with the divine. therefore it can not evolve. Where have the smily icons gone?? lol

ah gold seeking fairies got fairies in the bottom of my garden dose that mean there is gold there?
gold is AU a nutural element you can not make it its just there i was told by a geoligist once how it comes to the surface but went over my head a little some thing about fault lines and up thrusts etc
not to sure weather the "up thrust " has any thing todo with fairies

how about gnomes?

nice gold in the picture

Hello Overdog and x-terra Steve.

As to your queries re Evolution of gold, I can only offer my 'Own" thoughts sbout this, which took me 50 odd years of serious research.
Please note that this is in "NO" way "Self promotional",

ITS ONLY PART OF OF A SERIOUS THEORY WHICH I BELIEVE WHOLE-HEARTEDLY IN.

SORRY!! forgot the Web address link:

http://homepages.ihug.co...~criticol/index.html.htm

TAKE IT AS YOU DECIDE TO~~ AND I "HOPE" THAT IT may shed some light around.

Many cheers and regards---Colin.

Colin, put down the crack pipe.

You'd need a LOT of energy - either a particle accelerator or a nuclear reaction (fission/fusion) to do it. Hence it would cost more than just going and digging it out of the ground.

Colin you have inhaled too many sulphur fumes-alchemy doesnt work.
I agree with goldplate- the Large Hadron Collider would be your best bet to create an element.

HI Kiwikeith.

Im "GLAD" that you verify that you can talk to "LITTLE PEOPLE" in the Back garden.
" I sure as hell can.`t "
Put your hand up if you can ????
Cheers--- Colin.

Hello Overdog.

At least you seem to be intelligent enough to know one of the MAIN ingedients ????

As to the HADRON collider.

Im doubtful that these "MACHINES" would have been around in the "START"

Cheers---Colin.
