The thrill of the hunt. You never know what you are going to find until you get out there. Sometimes there is a bit of research needed about a particular area you are going into, getting the right permission then just switch on and go. because of the US $ at present, I really need to get hold of a book about the Minelab Quattro. I have had it since 2007 and I still haven't got over the funny noises it makes and the disappearing signals. Sabich has a second edition so......

Keep searching, use it as much as you can and perservere. Looks like you are doing a great job.

I think the war medal might be .925 sterling.

But anyway, if you look along the rim it should have the regimental # and name of the soldier. Can you have a look and post it please - that medal might have extreme sentimental value for the family who lost it.

We have my granddad's 1st world war medals. Would never ever sell them.

no wont find any markings on the rim..lol..when i say very rough i mean i found it bent in half and all chewed up like it was put in a vice by someone and the edges all
have tooth marks one in like being squized by vicegrips...will take a pic and show you what i mean...i had to use a screw driver to open it up just to see what it was
and all that is readable is the 1914-1918 dates

oh i am 99 % sure it wasnt a lawn mower..just by the way it was bent in half and sqeezed together....i am sure if it was hit by a mower it would be nicked and cut but not bent like this with marks on the edges the look like teeth marks from vice grips.
