Will not be a problem, Howard valley road is well maintained.

Trusting you have never been out there before, just keep going down howard valley road until just before the ford, there is a camp area with a wood burning cooker and some local area signage, a good place to park up, across the ford is some more signage about the confines of the fossicking area and the rules. Its a fair hike from the ford into the fossicking area, those who are equipped to crevice the exposed bedrock with suckers and the like seem to do the best, but I tend to do about half a gram a day sluicing minimum, it has always paid.

A 4x4 even with road tyres will get you right up to the fossicking area. The only slight worry might be the ford if its been really rainin but you should be fine.

We were in a white hilux, we passed a silver ranger at the camping area on our way to the louie.
We got a few colours from New creek in the morning.

Last time in was in the Louie creek there were no pine trees (back in the mid 90s), have preferred New creek since then as the gold is just a bit easier to get.
Got a few specks from Collingwood a week earlier.
