Went to the "bushy spot" for a night hunt, bit spooky so kept to a slightly lit area, 4 silvers including another half crown, 11th nz half crown within 9 months. Those sovereigns still remain elusive :(

I find that often, night hunts can produce the best finds. I put it down to the senses being heightened by the darkness!

Seems like that, although there was a camper van there with German tourists that looked like they were staying the night so felt a little a ease, they actually came and asked what I was doing so gave them a history lesson. But have to watch the nutters. I remember once going to Hagley at night ages ago and heard a sound while I was scanning under a willow, I looked up and saw shuffling pair of shoes hiding behind the leaves, so because the old digging tool looks like a lethal weapon (just incase ) I called out and said, "I know your there, no point hiding fella" next thing the pair of shoes scuttled away. Then another night I had a homeless guy laden with his worldly goods enter the park, and every second step he took he yelled like he had Tourette Syndrome, he came up to me in the dark and he was actually a really nice guy, and while I was chatting to him he didn't yell, but when he went on his way it started again...Go figure

Good results.
Spookiest for me was an old shanty site in the bush, long since turned to rusty iron and woodpulp. Was a daylight hunt, but there was distinct smell of pipe tobacco all the time I was there... Made the hackles stand up, I can tell you!

Worst night hunt was working away at the base of a stream bank wondering where the dead animal was due to the blowflies hanging around bouncing off me.
Then I realised they were wasps!

Reckon all detectors should have a wasp/ant nest alarm function!
