Hi all
I was looking at buying a 2' keene dredge to play around with over the summer but am wondering if I am legally allowed to use one on an un claimed section of a river ? some feed back would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Legally....No.

But no one seems to care, claimed or not... so best is do not get caught especially on someones claim without permission.

But you would need to be unlucky, unless you are poaching in popular or public areas?

yep, solid advce LBD..would be legal from a regioanl council perspective in tasman, westland, some of otago, not legal from a crown mins, linz, doc perspective, not to mention nzhpt..or district concil.

id do it, and not get caught personally...

get permission before entering anybodies claim is what I say, its not nice to poach gold from people who have to pay fees, rents and insurance for their claims. If they say no, its not personal, its just the way it is.

Yep...that is a fair comment & why I stick to detecting & miles away from any water ways & claims. Not treading on any ones toes that way.

Good luck out there
