Had a quote to do out of town, on the way spotted an area which I would have passed a load of times before, but this time there was something different (speaking in riddles to conceal location) that made me stop.
I was all up 45 minutes, pulled up an old silver pocket watch, it does have Hallmarks and the face has gold bits in it, also another silver half crown 1934, 1917 shilling, 1908 sixpence, and 3x nz sixpence. Also what looks to be a brass toy arm.
I will post the updates on the watch once I'm home from work and given it all a clean up, I maybe wrong but pulling all that up in 45 minutes tells me its either a unhunted area or I'm just lucky.
Definitely the spot Im going to this weekend.
Unfortunately the soil conditions have wreaked the penny's, and the silvers will need a bit of attention.

Yeah welcome to come along, I'm not one to secret squirrel areas, more history pulled up the better. I know for a fact you would have passed it yourself, or even visited it.

Update on the finds, and close up on the hallmarks if anyone can shed some light , has GS in a box then 204 , 925 in box, then looks like a circle, then P in a box and M2 at bottom, was an effort cleaning the silver the soil has really affected them. Oh and a bit of pottery, maybe a pottery guru out there.

You got me, my secret army of underground moles that report back lol, nah just hours of Google maps and a lot of imagination looking at landscapes and thinking how it would have been 100 odd years back, taking in account land erosion , floods, whether that Bush was there back then, big trees that look out of place, human food source back then, really reverting back to high school social studies. Eg stopped on the side of the road opposite The Hinds pub when coming back from holiday saw a funny looking tree by the railway line, while the family had a break I grabbed by detector and bingo first signal and 1888 penny, then a silver ring..just don't really know.

I had never thought of that, and yes that plot probably did have animals on it to keep the grass down.
