Went out for an early morning hunt at a popular North Shore beach today and found someone had done a "grid search" night hunt before me. No problem there except the place looked like a bombing range. The only thing missing were some low flying aircraft and trenches. Its really not that hard to attempt to fill the holes and not put the sport in the firing line. And YES the tide will fill them in but not before several hundred non detectorists walk their dogs or jog up the beach risking a twisted ankle or worst. Got some nasty looks as if it were my doing. I hope whoever it was reads this takes a few extra seconds next time to kick some sand back in, we get enough flack without asking for more. A good morning after all that with some silvers and spending money for my trouble

No-one saw me spending 45 minutes at 3am filling in a hole at a local beach which was, and I tell no lies, 1.5m deep, 2m long and about a metre wide.
I nearly pitched into the damn thing whilst sweeping by starlight... and no way was I going to leave that there for some early walker or fisho to break a leg (or neck).

Ahh kids are so playful in the sand aren't they!!!
