Hi there 270win, Looks like your xmas hunt produced some cool old finds, i can see an old military button there. I was wondering too what the date of your gothic florin is.

Think I know which high school your talking about. Often thought it would hold the odd treasure or two, as I drove past on my way to meet my next client. Used to rep down that way. Hunted a few places in Oamaru and scored some sweet finds.
Try the old pathway along the riverbank that goes passed the public pools. I had a short hunt there once and got some nice old coins!
See if you can get a permission from the A & P committee to hunt the Oamaru Show Grounds. I tried but they said no. Was worth a go tho I guess. Maybe being a local, you'll have more luck.

I had a quick hunt in your area xmas, year before last and it's loaded with goodies only got out for one 20 min hunt and even that got me $18 in goldies.
Must be good to have a hunting ground pretty much to yourself, enjoy and make sure your retrieval technique is good as it's pretty darn crumbly at the moment.

Each time I drive through the wife knows what I'm thinking, smirks at me and says "Keep on driving". My detector never made it out of the car on my last trip to Chch ~sigh~.

Went to a park yesterday in Dunedin that I abandoned last time as it was soup. This time it was like cement, someone else had beaten me back there and with the exception of a few cone shaped plugs had done a good job of cleaning it out. So that's good to see.

Lol...yeah, only managed an hour and a bit there but also scored a gothic ( which I gakked..bugger it!) , so still plenty left for you!
Only two other spots I tried (didn't have a lot of time unfortunately...or fortunately depending on your point of view! )

1/ the other side of the bridge along the railway line passed the skate park and bowling club.
2/ the strip of grass beside the botanic gardens, by the side enterance with the Chinese looking gateway.
I think both of these areas had been done before me, as both were hard work.
