Good day guys, I met up with a few guys from the forum yesterday and we headed off to one of the local gold bearing streams. Four of us had detectors and one was going to be just sniping. Two of us had already thrashed the area previously with detectors so it was not surprising that only one of us got two small bits (was not me). Also there is plenty of sign of people having been in the area. With the detecting not paying off I put on my wetsuit and did some sniping. In about 4 hours I managed to get the gold in the pictures. According to the kitchen scales it weighs 6g all up. I have left my scales up in Auckland so will update the weight if I find it to be drastically different.

One of the pieces I almost completely covered in quartz and rock, first real specimen piece I have found. I hope to squeeze in one more trip before I have to head off back up to Auckland on Sunday.

Good luck out there guys.

Thanks Mat and the rest of the team for a grouse day out, in a bit of unique back country! for everything I managed to learn from you and the others in attendance.

Perhaps not surprisingly the gold found detecting was found by a skilled operator using the most sensitive detector out of all in attendance.

Gidday chaps,

The rain in Auckland has kept me inside so I compiled a video of a gold trip I did late last year.
I hope you enjoy it, I certainly did.

World's smallest dredge Haha. No its a sucker thing my mate put together. Runs on suction created with your mouth. The gold ends up in a plastic container. Basically it's a plastic jar with two hoses sealed into it.
