Trade me is good for a few, but to be fair I have a Keene a52 for rivers and homemade job for creeks and the homemade job finds more gold! It's just a 6" irrigation pipe cut in half with a plywood base to hold it in the river, all the corrogations work a wonder and have trapped nuggets up to 4gram so far, my creek sluice weighs less than 500g and is about 800mm long and can fit into any daypack without taking up to much space.

I have a similar set up, although I employed some plastic trays from a fridge and some old car mats :P, how do you get the piping attached? I nailed mine and filled the nails in with silicon sealant that would have water flowing over them.

Its a little tricky to explain, but I had some roofing flashing spare, once the pipe was cut in half I made a flare shape out of the roofing material so the water would flow into the pipe better, then siliconed and screwed the flare through the pipe into the plywood legs. I think the flare is the trick to squeezing more water in the pipe

Sorry to hijack the thread but what do you guys think would be better for central otago waters

1) Le trap Sluice

2) Bazooker Gold Trap

They both look like much easier to use and clean out than the standard sluice. Or am I best to stick to the rubber matting and carpet styled sluice?

Hi there mate, I bought a Bazooka Gold Trap Awhile back works great!! catches fine and heavy gold real well! I think it would work well in any waters.
